Absulox Case Study

Absulox

Absulox is a revolutionary new water treatment product using Biomimetics’ stable active halogen solution. As well as rapidly killing all bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores, Absulox is highly effective in breaking down the bio-films which harbour these pathogens.

It is ideal for use in water hygiene and pipework treatment applications, where it quickly eradicates Legionella, Pseudomonas and other microbes.

Case Study

In 2009, one of the country’s leading multi-national food and drink manufacturers detected alarmingly high levels of Legionella, TVC and Pseudomonas in their hot water system. This system fed both their office block and factory amenities and used more than 12m³ of water per day.

During the subsequent two years the factory implemented every recognised water treatment regime in an attempt to solve the problem, but with little or no success: Legionella had taken hold and nothing was effective in reducing it – let alone removing it.

Absulox was shock dosed for an initial period of 24 hours and then decreased to a maintenance value of less than 1ppm over a period of 1 week. This treatment proved completely successful, resulting in the total eradication of all pathogens.

Absolux Case Study

Of interest is how several of the recorded counts increase significantly at the start of the treatment process. This is as a result of the Absulox stripping the bio-film from the pipe-work and it being flushed out of the system.

Similar performance was achieved against the TVC’s and Pseudomonas. Within 5 days, Non Detectable readings were recorded at all outlets of the system: the factory was able to return to concentrating on food manufacture rather than the risk their water system posed to staff and public health.
